Beehive

This the Beehive, a Yellowstone geyser near Old Faithful, that taught me the importance of staying upwind from erupting geysers. See all that water going upward in a really powerful gush? Lemme tell you, it must come down, too...and it does! Thankfully, the visitor center sold (slightly too short) women's jogging pants. Need I say more? :)

BTW, for the record, this was my summer vacation (okay, it was the end of May...).

Taken in the National Park Weerribben, Netherlands. I like the way the water mirrors the land. The curved trees accentuate the reflections.

Geyser

The Strokkur Geyser in Iceland, which erupts every several minutes, to the delight of many tourists. I was quite pleased with having captured the initial bubble preceding the eruption, right at the point of breaking and the spout shooting up.

Note of warning: if you ever find yourself in position to watch a geyser, make sure you stand upwind... a trick some of the people in this picture are going to learn the hard way :)

Birdies...

During a hike around Clickimin Loch in Lerwick, Shetland Islands, a flock of small birds were flittering and chittering in the tall grasses. They were pretty well camouflaged.

Taken during a recent holiday in Iceland. Amazing landscapes. This was apparently one of the best fishing rivers in the country.
