So, Pisa isn't the only city with a leaning (church) tower. This was taken in Gorinchem, Netherlands. I had a tough time capturing a three-dimensional angle in a two-dimensional picture, but with the aid of some very straight traffic sign posts, I think I managed.

These are the ventilation towers for the Velsertunnel. The photo was taken from top of a cruise ship passing through the IJ (under which the tunnel runs). Aside from the aesthetics of the towers (and they have been declared a national monument), the two people sitting in lawn chairs at their feet watching the ships go by on a summer's day truly make the picture for me.

After a heat wave last week, today it's the turn of cooling thunderstorms. They make for some interesting clouds. I took these about an hour ago, when a storm skirted past my place. First pic is taken on the phone, the second a few minutes later on a regular camera. It's not as spectacular, but shows better how "painted on" the sky looked. As always, click the photo for a bigger version.

Nope, not a space alien, but an extreme close up of a poppy bud.

Taken in the National Park Weerribben, Netherlands. I like the way the water mirrors the land. The curved trees accentuate the reflections.

A 50s style apartment building in the Netherlands, with very bright blue doors to liven it up a bit.

Indoor test shot taken with my new Canon G16 camera. Not bad for what's basically a compact, is it?
