Visiting Arches National Park on a Saturday probably wasn't the wisest idea, as evidenced by the stream of people walking toward the arches. In any case, it was crowded enough to make parking a problem.

That said, you can't really appreciate the sheer size of these rock formations and arches without having people-like-ants crawling around them.

Famous landmarks are always a popular subject for photographers. For example, the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark. As I already had taken a picture of the statue itself back in 2001 (under the cut), I decided not to bother trying to find a good angle among the crowds, but instead took a picture of the crowds themselves, along with the statue.

Colosseum

Back from a holiday during which I took many, many photos again. Some of those will eventually find their way to [personal profile] shadomanda, undoubtedly :)

But for now, have an oldie!

London Eye

As someone tweeted yesterday: INSTALLING SUMMER.. ███████████████░░░░░░░░░░░░░░ 44% DONE Installation failed. Please try again. 404 error: Season not found.

That... feels very true. And this photo, while taken a few years ago, seems to fit the current summer.

The original photo of the London Eye was rather dull and somber, due to overcast weather. Trying to work with the photo instead of against it, I turned it into black and white and added some film grain to enhance the dreary atmosphere.
One of Nova Scotia's busiest tourist attractions is the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove. As is clearly obvious from the picture... :-)

While going through my photo CDs to see what else I could add to my collection for future [personal profile] shadomanda posts, I rediscovered some of the photos taken with My First Digicam (a Kodak DC 40 — don't laugh, it was a very nice camera for its time. With less than 1 MP resolution, and an non-removable, non-expandable internal memory that held all of 48 pics, but also a flash, self-timer and tripod mount).

To be honest, all things considered, the photos don't even look that bad. So, in the interest of historical perspective, a couple of shots taken at classic locations. Complete with artefacts and noise, and shown in their original size...
