Beach umbrellas

Beach umbrellas under a partly cloudy sky in Lanzarote. Cropped to a widescreen format to cut out some of the not-too-interesting sky. The lone seagull kinda finishes the pic for me.

Windmills, windmills everywhere

Holland, of course, is famous for its windmills, and one of the most visited places to see them is Kinderdijk (a Unesco World Heritage Site). Below are two panorama photos of the site I took a couple years ago. They were stitched with Hugin, which I very much recommend. The interface can be a bit daunting, and it looks like the program can do way more than I could ever understand. But in default mode it does the job very, very well, even for panorama's shot by hand.

The first panorama is the more "classic" view of Kinderdijk, where a number of the mills line up nicely. (There are 19 mills in total at the site.)

The second was taken at a stop along the road toward Kinderdijk. While the first is probably photographically "prettier", I like this one very much because it shows the mills in their 'natural environment', with modern day buildings on the horizon.
