Fall fern

I was a little too early to experience the full splendor of Nova Scotia's fall foliage—or perhaps fall was late in 2003—but this fern offered a bit of a taste of things to come. In my part of the world, fall ferns tend to go a dull brown and mushy, but with the way the sunlight filtered onto this particular specimen, it turned into a warm, golden color that I like very much.
